Luck by Chance Movie Review

Luck-By-Chance-Review

Luck by Chance is directed by Zoya Akhtar, a first time director but a second generation industry insider and starring Farhan Akhtar, Konkana Sen and cameo appearance by Hrithik Roshan, Dia Mirza, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Ranbir Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Karan Johar, Manish Malhotra and Kareena Kapoor. Take a look at the summary of reviews.

Bollywood Hungama rates 4.0/5.0. Luck by Chance taps almost every important facet of Bollywood and presents assorted characters you’ve encountered some time in life: An over-ambitious aspirant who knows to make the right moves; an actress trying hard to get that big break, even if she has to compromise; an icon of the 1970s who desperately wants her daughter to be a star; a producer who looks at riding on big names, script be damned; a failed actor now looking at direction to redeem his career. One of the prime reasons why Luck by Chance works because Zoya Akhtar’s direction is simply wonderful. Leave aside everything and hitch this joyride called Luck by Chance. It would be sacrilege to miss this one! – Bollywood Hungama

CNN-IBN rates 4.0/5.0. Watch the film for Hrithik’s dance, Konkona’s performance and all the guest stars. Javed Akhtar’s dialogues are brilliant as usual. His wit and sensitivity comes across in every other scene. Zoya Akhtar shows just how a film should be made. – CNN-IBN

NDTV recommends watching the movie. Zoya pokes fun at Bollywood but she does it with a great affection. There are some lovely little moments like the star daughter in a super short skin-tight outfit struggling to touch her producer’s feet without splitting a seam. But what makes Luck By Chance compelling, is the layers beneath the laughs. The first half wobbles precariously as the script struggles to find a momentum. But thankfully the narrative flows better in the latter half and culminates in a satisfying, bittersweet end. Luck by Chance is a perceptive portrait of our dream factory. We recommend that you make time for it. – NDTV

Krazzy 4 (Bollywood - Reviews)

A film like KRAZZY 4 is easy on your brains. It rests on a thin plot, but the makers have tried to package the proceedings with entertaining stuff from Scene A to Z. Sometimes it works, at times it doesn’t. But the pros outweigh the cons in this case. Also, let’s get one thing straight. This isn’t path-breaking or ground-breaking cinema by any chance. It’s targeted at the aam junta, not connoisseurs of cinema.

Also, one of the trump cards… sorry, make it two, are the dance numbers filmed on the two superstars — SRK and Hrithik. Just these two numbers are enough to satiate the hunger of an avid moviegoer. Even the Rakhi Sawant track is an asset, since it’s hugely popular with the desi junta.

Arshad Warsi is the best of the lot. His character is bound to work with the moviegoers. Irrfan’s role doesn’t offer him that much scope.

Juhi Chawla doesn’t get ample opportunity. Dia Mirza is efficient. Zakir Hussain is okay. Rajat Kapoor is relegated to the backseat.

On the whole, KRAZZY 4 is slightly above the average mark, but the brand [Rakesh Roshan] coupled with the presence of the two superstars in its songs and of course, some great actors in comic roles should ensure positive returns at the box-office.

Jodhaa Akbar (Bollywood - Reviews)

Posted on 16 February 2008 by admin

“Let’s get one thing straight: You haven’t watched anything so opulent, so magnificent like this in a long, long time on the Hindi screen. It’s not just body beautiful, but there’s soul as well. To sum up, JODHAA AKBAR leaves you spellbound, enthralled, entranced and awestruck.

JODHAA AKBAR also works because of the right casting. It’s difficult to imagine anyone else in the role of Emperor Akbar. Hrithik seems born to play this role and he enacts it with such precision, such flourish, such confidence that it leaves you asking for more. A mind-boggling performance without doubt!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is superb. Oh yes, she looks ethereal — a compliment she has heard a trillion times before. What’s new in that? But watch her emote in this film. You realize the amazing talent that has hitherto not been tapped by any movie maker. A flawless performance indeed!

On the whole, JODHAA AKBAR is, without a shred of doubt, a brilliant film in all respects. This historical has all it takes to prove the first blockbuster of 2008. Very strongly recommended!” –Taran Adarsh

Krrish (Bollywood - Reviews)

Posted on 23 June 2006 by Desi Media

“On the whole, KRRISH is a winner all the way. At the box-office, the film will rewrite box-office history and emerge one of the biggest hits ever. The film will establish records from Day 1 itself, while the first weekend business will be brilliant and the first week billing should shatter all previous records. A money spinner, KRRISH is a definite blockbuster! ”
