Four people were seriously injured as two rival groups of students clashed in Chennai on Wednesday evening. A group of students wielding iron rods and sticks entered the campus of Ambedkar Law College in the city, and beat up some students coming out after taking their examination. The students were brutally beaten up by the group inside the college campus. “The clash apparently occurred after groups of students disagreed over the contents of invitation cards printed for a political event. Police pickets have been posted at the site to prevent further clashes. The situation is under control,” a police official said.

Refuting allegations of being mute spectators to the incident, police said that they did not have permission to enter the college premises. The police did not try dispersing the crowd despite one of the students being mercilessly beaten at the college gate. It was only after some journalists objected that the police helped move the injured students. Four students have been severely injured and the condition of two of these is said to be critical.

Tamil Nadu Government has initiated disciplinary action against six Chennai police officials for standing by and watching as two groups of students clashed with each other on Wednesday evening at a college in the city. An Assistant police commissioner and an inspector have been suspended while four sub inspectors have been transferred. The principal of the college, too, has been suspended as he failed to take appropriate action to stop clashes between students.

Guys ! That was very shocking. Are we going back to the medieval times? Whom do you think we should held responsible? The students? Principal or the Cops?
